Story

On 13th May Barry, along with three team mates, will leave St Andrew's in Scotland to cycle the 500 miles to St Andrew's Club in Westminster in 5 days - a marathon challenge for four amateur cyclists.

Barry is a proud Londoner and Chairman of St Andrew’s, which did a great deal for him when he was a boy. As a young member of the Club Barry was accorded the honour of walking the Club’s banner down the aisle of Westminster Abbey for the Club’s centenary, in 1966. After a career in communications, he is now a full-time writer and his novel, The Pimlico Kid, is to be published by Harper Collins. He has done precious little cycling of late but in former times once rode very slowly to the top of Mont Ventoux. He is married with two daughters. He has an abiding admiration for most things French and two things Belgian: Eddy Merkx and Audrey Hepburn.
