Story
With over 12 million AIDS orphans living in sub-Saharan Africa (in UK terms that’s more than every single child standing at the school gates on Monday, without a single parent or carer arriving to pick them up because each one of them has been obliterated by AIDS). It’s a senseless disease that affects every single family living in Africa. It is the cancer of the continent. We are passionate at arresting HIV and ensuring that the communities we work in, in Uganda, Tanzania and Malawi learn to live another day and another way without the threat of AIDS.
To that end Act4Africa have employed and trained local African teams to deliver HIV and AIDS education, stigma reduction and AIDS testing and counselling clinics since we launched the charity. We are so proud of their work and, through our local teams have delivered comprehensive AIDS Prevention education to over 1.6 million young people.

Patrick, AIDS Orphan and Leader of our Ugandan Operation Hurt in Machete Attack and Robbery
We received terrible news last week was that Patrick (the Head of Act4Africa’s Uganda Operations) was attacked with machetes by armed raiders who left him for dead in his home. He’s been living in Kampala whilst his wife Susan finishes her studies. If it wasn’t for the fact that Susan is a doctor, we would have lost him. She managed to get him to a private hospital and they saved his life. He has plates in his head but no brain damage, the biggest challenge is the hacked his legs very badly, down to the bone. He’s had one knee cap reconstructed, the other leg has been very badly damaged but he is slowly regaining his strength. The next few weeks are crucial. He has also emailed me and asked if everyone can ‘pray for my mind
