Story
The University of Gloucestershire's Stop the Heartbreak campaign, launched by The Citizen in 2013 aims to raise funds for vital cardiac screening for young people in the county, and promote the use of defibrillators in sporting and community venues.
This years campaign, Stop the Heartbreak 2015, includes raising money for cardiac screening in Gloucester and in the Forest of Dean. Three days of screening have been planned and on each day 100 people can be screened by CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
We need to raise £10,500 so that 300 people aged between 14 and 35 can take advantage of the screening for free. This screening is important because it can detect any potential heart issues which could, if not detected, be fatal.
Important dates for screening and fundraising:
Screening: Tuesday 30th March and Wednesday 1st April 2015 - University of Gloucestershire, Oxstalls Campus
Screening: Tuesday 27th October 2015 - Venue TBC, Forest of Dean
Fundraising: Family Fun Day - Saturday 21st February 2015
To help raise the profile for the screening there will be a day celebration of sport and physical activity to take part in, watch or learn! A family fun day at Oxstalls Campus on Saturday 21st February 2015 is free and will have opportunities for lots of active things to do and take part in. Book the date in your dairy and visit www.glos.ac.uk/stoptheheatbreak for more details....
