During my time working at Malaika Babies' Home we resettled triplets, Juliana, Josephine and Jane with their family. I am trying to raise £5,500 to buy land and build a house for the triplets and their grandmother who looks after them. They are currently in unsafe accommodation in a slum, and at aged eighteen months they are confined to their cots most of the time, unable to learn to walk.

Their story: 

The triplets were discharged from hospital weighing just 1kg each – if they hadn’t been brought to Malaika they would’ve died. Their mother was just 16 years of age and had been abandoned by the father to her children, after he found out that she was carrying a multiple pregnancy.

We resettled the triplets with their loving grandmother, although she already has six children of her own and is a single mother.  The family depends on her for survival. She sells fried food that she takes to schools around the area and she also makes charcoal that she sells. The family struggles to survive.

Though the triplets are growing, they are missing a lot of stimulation since they are not able to crawl or walk because there is no viable space that is clean enough for the children to be able to explore their surroundings.

Juliana, Josephine and Jane are happy and content little girls that deserve to live in a hygienic environment. Though the triplets are well cared for their living situation is desperate and cannot be sustained for much longer. They need a better living situation in order for them to grow and develop in a healthy way.

As some of you might know it's my 60th birthday soon but, instead of gifts to mark this daunting occasion, I'm asking you to help me make sure these little girls have a safe environment to grow up in with their family.
