Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've been inspired to swim, bike and run by Fliss, a beautiful little girl with NF1. Her parents, Maria and Greg are close friends of mine.

At only 2 months old, Fliss was hospitalised with feeding issues, she was found to have a tumour in her spine, severely compressing the top of the spinal cord. The amazing neurosurgeons at Alder Hey were able to remove it but it damaged the alignment of her spine which cannot be corrected until she is 2 years old and her bones are stronger. Felicity has since been diagnosed with Neurofibramatosis type 1 (NF) a genetic disorder that means she will likely have future benign tumours develop throughout her life.

Unfortunately a recent MRI showed that the tumour has returned. It is still small, but Fliss is not a candidate for surgery because her spine is too fragile. Her parents are hoping she will have access to a new type of chemotherapy that is showing promising results in trials in the U.S. This is made possible by the research done by NF charities, and people like you who raise money for them.

Fliss is generally doing well and developing. She is a beautiful happy baby who loves music, dancing and getting attention from her big sister! Her parents are so proud of their strong and beautiful Fliss. She brings so much love and happiness not only to the family but to everyone who knows her.
