Story

UPDATE: You can pay your Zakat to this Syria Village Project. Justgiving charges a 5% fee so if you pay GiftAid they take the 5% fee from the GiftAid which will not affect your zakat. However, if you do not pay GiftAid, you must add 5% to the total amount of Zakat so it does not deduct the fee from your Zakat.

Recently we brought you a story about the harsh reality of what is happening in the refugee camps in Syria. We told you that women are being sold as sex slaves, children are being kidnapped, women are being raped, all because they have no protection. Christian missionaries are going into Syrian refugee camps and taking advantage of them.

After multiple visits to the Syrian refugee camps, Al Muntada Trust have witnessed the appalling unsanitary conditions, unsafe drinking water and lack of facilities in the camps. In addition to this, there are fears of security and privacy for the people, particularly the women and children, leaving them vulnerable and exposed.

So what can we do about this?

If we donate money, it will give them enough rations to last them a few months. But what then? When the convoys leave, what will happen to them? What type of life will they have? They have no protection after the convoys leave.

However, there is one way to protect them. Al Muntada Islami Trust has created a new and unique project for our Ummah in Syria. This project is called SYRIA REFUGEE VILLAGE.

Al Muntada Trust plan to build a village which will include homes for 100 families. It will include a school, a Masjid, a kitchen from where food will be served to people and a playground for the children.

Each home will provide shelter for an average of 5 members and will contain mattresses, blankets, pillows, mat, bin, water thermos, table fan, mini refrigerator, portable wardrobe.

A communal kitchen will be built that will serve cooked food to orphans, their mothers and needy families on a daily basis. There are also plans to erect a tent for a school where children will get education and a Masjid where they will be able to offer their prayers.

The total cost of the project will be £500,000. Each home will cost £5000

Help us construct a village for Orphans and Widows in Syria and let this be a continuous charity for you.

The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three things: Sadaqah Jariyah (ceaseless charity); knowledge which is beneficial; or a virtuous descendant who prays for him (the deceased).” [Sahih Muslim]
