Story
This seems like the challenge of a lifetime. Not just riding 75 miles in desert heat, but raising £10,000 for families facing extraordinary violence and persecution in Syria and Iraq.
Still, as they say, it seems impossible until it is done.
Q&A:
What are you raising money for? There's been a lot of coverage of refugees who have fled Syria and Iraq - but what of those left behind, too poor or old to flee?
Open Doors provides a lifeline to over 24,000 families who have fled their homes but remain trapped in Iraq and Syria. One church leader said: "If you leave, what will happen to our people? For sure they will die."
What is Open Doors doing? The charity is not a relief agency but has been working in the Syria and Iraq from long before this current crisis supporting the Christian community which has been under great pressure from extremist groups. We all want to see a peaceful, stable societies emerging - but now the focus is on survival. Every £71 will provide a family a month's emergency supplies for a family of five.
What's the Muskathlon. The Muskathlon is an extreme fundraising endurance challenge raising money for people facing extreme violence and persecution. You can sponsor a family in Syria or Iraq - just £25 a month counts for £1,000 of my fundraising target.
What are you doing? A 75 mile (120km) desert mountain bike ride in Jordan. I'll also be travelling through the Sinai desert and meeting Syrian refugees.
Are we paying for that? No. I'll of course be covering all my airfares and expenses - so you can be sure your donation will reach those who need it most.
