THE VICTORIA FOUNDATION WOULD LIKE TO SAY AN ENORMOUS THANK YOU TO THE NEW VICTORIA HOSPITAL TEAM AND FRIENDS FOR THEIR FANTASTIC EFFORT ON  Sunday 17th July  WHEN THEY COMPETED IN THE 2016 Kingston Rotary Club Boat Festival.

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE  FANTASTIC ACHIEVEMENT IN           EXCEEDING THE FUNDRAISING TARGET OF £3,000 - EVERYONE  SHOULD FEEL VERY PROUD.

BACKGOUND to the event

In each boat there will be 16 crew members and one drummer.

The fabulous day on the river will follow the fantastic success last year where the hospital entered 3 teams comprised of staff, consultants and their families who all donned scrubs tops and surgeons caps. None had ever taken part in a Dragon Boat race before, so there was a steep learning curve!  All teams performed fantastically with tremendous enthusiasm and were just one place short of making the finals - this year we will be trying to do even better!

Graham Ball, Chief Executive of The New Victoria Hospital said, 'Last year was a superb event and we are delighted to be taking part again. I hope that staff, consultants and their families will once again  join our teams  or come along and support us.' 

The New Victoria Hospital is entering three teams once again and is aiming for them to raise £3,000 which will help to transform lives through the work of The Victoria Foundation, the parent charity of the hospital. This fantastic sum could help provide toolkit grants for 10 more students studying medicine from disadvantaged backgrounds, or provide a mobility aid for a disabled child helping them gain greater independence and to reach their potential. www.thevictoriafoundation.org.uk
