Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Five Air Traffic Controllers and one controllers wife are each going to swim 5 miles, which is 320 lengths of a 25m pool, very early on Sunday 19th February. None of us (sorry one of us, is) are very good swimmers, so this is a bit of an undertaking, to say the least!

The Big POOL team members are. Paul Wharton(DOS C Watch, and Prestwick Centre Chair), Nigel Robinson(ATCO C Watch, and PC Secretary), James Edwards(LAS C Watch, and C Watch Rep), Philip Langton(ATCO E Watch, and OAC Lead Rep), Aisling Langton(Proper Swimmer), and Doug Robertson(ATCO E Watch, and Ace swimmer extraordinaire).

Later this year Prospect ATCOs’ Branch have organised an aircraft pull at Goodwood race track on 3rd June 2012 and are aiming to raise           £100, 000, at the event itself and through other events like our swimathon, in order to purchase a new aircraft for their chosen charity, Aerobility. This event they are calling The Big Pull, oh the confusion!

Aerobility enables handicapped and seriously ill adults and children the chance to experience the joy of flying, however ageing aircraft mean high maintenance costs and less airborne time.  By securing Aerobility a brand new plane, we can ensure more people can benefit from the charity and less of their valuable sponsorship money is diverted to maintenance.

If you would like to donate to The Big Pull, you can find out how do so at www.thebigpull.co.uk where you can also find out further information about the big event itself as well as seeing what else is going on in support.

You can also donate to The Big POOL team directly on this JustGiving page.

If you are a staff member of NATS you can also give tax efficiently via the Gift as you earn scheme, please talk to your local rep for details.

To be honest, it doesn't matter how you donate as it all goes towards our massive target of £100,000, but please consider donating something, however little.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
