We are raising money to install solar powered system that will run an autoclave machine to sterilise essential medical equipment at the Mara Rianda Medical Centre. This is something that is badly needed and will save and enhance lives of the Mara Rianda community in the Masai Mara, Kenya. Please help us to make this possible with your donations. You can truly make a difference. Here is a background to the Medical Centre...
My father, Peter Diethelm and I travelled to Kenya in search of a sustainable project for the the PD Foundation to support. Kenya has been close to my fathers heart since he worked closely with the country during his time at Kuoni and I started my career in travel as Product Manager for Africa. We met with friends I had worked with at Governors Camp, who do truly incredible things for the local communities in Kenya, and together we began working with the Mara Rianda Charitable Trust to respond to the desperate need for a medical centre in Mara Rianda, Masai Mara.
Within a year the medical centre was built and operational, with 3 wards of 5 beds each, 3 consulting rooms, a dispensary, reception area and storage and sluice rooms. Since the opening on October 4th the medical centre has helped thousands of patients but in order to safely treat thousands more they must have the ability to sterilise the equipment. A kind donor has sponsored an autoclave (machine to sterilise), but a dedicated solar power system is imperative for this to operate.
The Mara Rianda Charitable Trust do not take any fees, so every penny they receive goes straight to the Medical Centre and the installation of these solar panels.
