Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This summer I will be taking part in The Mongol Rally 2016. This is a cross continental challenge taking us from London all the way through the middle east to the finish line north of Mongolia. I am a member of a team of 3 and with our 20 year old 1-litre Nissan Micra we will take to the dirt roads in July!
Other than the numerous challenges that lie ahead, before and even after we hit the road, I will be fundraising for NASS. A charity that has incredibly close ties to me and my family.
My father Tim, my brother Dougie and myself all suffer from AS. Dougie and I were both diagnosed in the last 5 years and Tim has lived with AS ever since he was a young lad.
Dougie and I are extremely fortunate to have parents that are very knowledgeable about AS and how to manage it.
But I know there are many many others out there where it would have come to them as a massive shock. Especially when a typical person will be first diagnosed in their early twenties - a time when they feel the world is at their feet. NASS is a charity who supports those less fortunate than I. To provide them with advice and support to take control back of their lives.
NASS is a charity whose aims are:
- to provide support, advice and information to people with AS.
- fighting to improve treatments and care to people with AS.
- funding research to help beat AS.
In completing this challenge I hope that, other than raising awareness about AS, I can inspire other sufferers, young or old, that if given the right treatment it does not stop you doing incredible things.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I would be extremely grateful for any donation. My initial target is £1000.
