Story

The Road to Wembley

Last summer my Dad, Mick Oates, sadly passed away at the age of 67 after a short battle with Cancer. He spent his final few weeks at Lindsey Lodge hospice in Scunthorpe, where the care and support for Mick and our family was warm and loving throughout.

Lindsey Lodge would not be able to operate were it not for the generous fundraising and donations from the local community. It is for this reason that having discussed some ideas with the lads at football, we decided to do our best in raising some money for such a worthy cause and organisation.

We have agreed to cycle to Wembley in memory of Mick, as he was a keen cyclist and throughout his lifetime a talented local non-league football player and an inspirational coach to so many. So what better place to cycle to than a 160 mile trip to the home of football?

Led by my good friend and our Club Captain Mick Gray, a number of the Appleby Frodingham FC players, including myself and my brother Matt, will be leaving Brumby Hall on Friday 29th July and after an overnight stop in Peterborough, will arrive at Wembley on Saturday 30th July.

Any donations and support in this charity cycle ride are greatly appreciated by all that are involved. We really hope we can help to make a difference. Thank you x
