Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am going to Cameroon for 2 months on a self-funded trip to volunteer at Ape Action Africa (http://www.apeactionafrica.org), a rescue and rehabilitation centre for chimpanzees and gorillas in Mefou National Park. I want to raise £1000 to donate to the amazing work that Ape Action Africa is doing.
Ape Action Africa is committed to ape conservation in Africa – protecting Cameroon’s great apes through direct action, including rescuing orphaned gorillas, chimpanzees and monkeys, giving them a safe forest sanctuary home where they can live with their own kind. I will spend my days at the centre assisting with the day-to-day activities necessary to care for the animals that live there, including activities such as:
• Chimpanzee or monkey nursery animal husbandry – cleaning and feeding
• Cleaning satellite cages
• Cleaning food magazines (containers for storing food)
• Quarantine animal husbandry
• Construction work
This journey is part of The Kerulos Center Sacred Bones learning in service program (http://kerulos.org/sacred-bones/).Sacred Bones was created to inspire deep cultural change toward nature-based consciousness – ways of living that cultivate unity and peace with nature.
There is no internet access in the centre, so on my return I will post a load of photos and entries so you can find out what I got up to! Thank you so much for your support and wish me luck!
