Story

Thanks to everyone that's donated to our Fundraiser. We have raised nearly £4500 on the night

Thomas was born at 27 weeks and 4 days and was the size of a 25 week old baby. His growth in the womb had slowed down due to his mother developing pre-eclampsia. He was delivered on the 12th February 2015 by emergency caesarean section at Barnsley hospital weighing 1lb 11oz and was extremely sick. After 3 days due to having difficulty with ventilation, heart failure, bleed on his brain and under developed lungs he was rushed to Hull women & children's hospital for 4 weeks with his parents living in the hospital with him. He was returned back to Barnsley after this and continued to progress. Thomas is making remarkable progress and is now 7 months old and weighs 16lb 4oz  and is making remarkable progress. We cannot thank Barnsley Neo-natal unit enough for saving Thomas's life and their hard work.

Please take 5 minutes of your time to watch the video of Thomas's First few months in hospital.

This shows what hard work our Neo- natal hospitals do and the emotions parents have to deal with.

The 'Tiny Hearts Appeal' aims to raise £1 Million over the next 2 years to help fund a brand new Special Care Baby Unit at the hospital. The new unit aims to provide an even better standard of care for all special care babies and the most comfortable environment for all the families and staff on the unit.

The new unit will be built around the needs of the babies and their families. State-of-the-art equipment will be provided to enable the Special Care Baby Unit team to continue their fantastic care and enhance their capabilities. The unit will sit on the same level as the Barnsley Birthing Centre, which means that the babies will not have to be exposed to different environments and different temperature changes, nor will they have to be taken to the top floin an elevator.

They need to raise 1 million pounds for a new unit and we want to raise as much money as possible to say thank you from Thomas.

Please help us raise some money towards this appeal. Any donation however small helps.
