Story
Hi everyone,
Our mum, Noreen O'Sullivan, is raising money for The Quiet Cancer Appeal.
You may have come across this page because you've heard about our fundraiser event that's being held on Saturday 23 April at the Claddagh Ring. More info on that is on Facebook (just search - 'the quiet cancer fundraiser') and tickets will be available soon.
Here's why we're fundraising:
Cancer, in all of its forms, is something that affects all families. We can all empathise with the struggle that it presents; equally, many of us can empathise with the amazing support that continues to be on hand from hospitals and health professionals.
In addition to the care and support that those diagnosed with cancer and their families receive, there is also a great deal of work that
happens behind the scenes in terms of driving research, with the aim of beating cancer on a global scale.
The Quiet Cancer Appeal deals exclusively with raising funds to develop research into Neuroendocrine Tumours (otherwise known as NETs). These are an unusual form of cancer, which can be very hard to detect or diagnose – hence the term ‘quiet cancer.’
Despite thi , NETs are now one of the top five more common cancers in the UK and twice as common as pancreatic cancer, affecting men and women of all ages.
The Royal Free Hospital is a leading international centre for both treatment and research into NETs. Their research encapsulates studies into: genetics; detection of relapse; scanning agents. In order to guarantee the fantastic work that the Quiet Cancer Appeal undertakes – and to secure research to benefit future generations of rare cancer sufferers - they will need to raise £3million over 10 years.
As a family who have experienced the benefits of the outstanding research and treatment provided by the Quiet Cancer Appeal first hand, we are arranging a fundraising event to contribute back.
Our event:
Tickets will be available soon to our fundraiser on Saturday 23 April.
The vision for this event has been set by Noreen O’Sullivan and the aim is to raise as much money as possible, whilst having a fantastic time with family and friends.
The Claddagh Ring always guarantees a fun night out and there will be a disco, buffet, raffle and auction at the event.
If you have any questions, or would like to donate a raffle prize or item for the auction, please contact Shane and Fiona at the following email address - tqcfundraiser@gmail.com
Thanks so much
