Story
It all started a 2 years ago when I was diagnosed with a DVT in my calf. I was overweight and a coach potato and needed an exercise plan that didn't bore me. I decided to offer my help to an animal charity as I have 3 dogs of my own, Bella and Toffee ( cocker spaniels) and Pippin a naughty Yorkshire Terrier
I found a local charity , CAESSR, who do a fantastic job helping to rehabilitate, rehome and foster Cocker and English Springer Spaniels. I started by walking the dogs who were in kennels, visiting potential families and collecting dogs from the vets who had been neutered and spayed before going to their forever home.
I have continued with volunteering for Caessr and have already raised money with the help of a local school and also raised awareness of the breed.
As I got fitter with lots of dog walks, I then decided to try a gentle jog. This started at 1 minute of jogging and 1 minute of walking. As I continued to improve I joined a local running club, Stoke F.I.T., and with their support I have now ran 10k and lost 3 stone in weight.
My aim now is to run 5 races next year to raise funds for Caessr.
Stafford Half Marathon on Sunday 20th March
Chester Half Marathon on Sunday 15th May
Edinburgh Half Marathon on Sunday 29th May
Potters Arf on Sunday 12th June
Potteries Marathon on 3rd July ( I must be crazy, hills, hills and more hills)
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I hope you can support this charity who are a non profit organisation run by volunteers
