Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are a group of anaesthetists and nurses working at Scunthorpe General Hospital. We work hard to provide the best care possible for the patients who are admitted to our intensive care unit. However, at times we are challenged in providing this care due to difficulties in communication. Patients who are connected to a breathing machine and have a breathing tube in place can struggle to convey messages to the staff looking after them. This can cause a lot of frustration, anxiety and distress to the patient. It can also result in missing some vital pieces of information that could improve the care that we provide.
We are going to participate in a 50 mile walk over 2 days that connects all three hospitals in the Northern Lincolnshire & Goole NHS Foundation trust. We start at Diana Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby and walk to Scunthorpe General Hospital on day 1. Then we walk from Scunthorpe General Hospital to Goole & District Hospital on day 2. This event is planned to happen on Saturday the 27th and Sunday the 28th of August.
Our aim is to raise £10,000 to buy some much needed communication aids for our intensive care unit. We would also like to buy some noise level monitors that will help maintain appropriate noise levels at each bed area, allowing our patients to rest and recover in peace. This equipment will enhance the care we provide for our patients as well as improving their overall well-being while they stay on our unit.
We would be very grateful for any donations that you provide to help us reach our £10,000 goal. Thank you!
