Story
A little background from Roz....
....for those of you who don't know, Vahid and I met in 2011 when Vahid gatecrashed a dinner party in Johannesburg. On learning that I would shortly start teaching at his old school - Waterford Kamhlaba - Vahid bounded over to talk to me. Later - without too much persuasion - I gave Vahid my number, and a few months later we were driving up to Swaziland together to check out my new accommodation. Thousands of miles and many skype calls later we are getting married!
If you would like to give us a gift, we are raising money for Waterford's bursary fund so a student from Swaziland can attend this unique school.
Waterford is part of the United World College network and recruits children from all over Africa and the world to a school that marries academic rigor with community service and leadership development. The school was founded in 1963 in Swaziland and was one of the first multi-racial schools in the region in expressed opposition to South Africa's apartheid regime.
Your contribution will go directly towards supporting a student from Swaziland whose parents are unable to cover Waterford's fees. It costs approximately £3,000 per year for a day student from Swaziland to attend Waterford. If we raise £15,000 we will be able to provide one child with a full scholarship to attend Waterford for the first 5 years of secondary school.
For those of you who are attending the wedding in Swaziland, Waterford will organise tours of the school during your trip. Please let Vahid or Roz know if you are interested.
If you would like to donate you can do so via credit or debit card on this page or you can bring cheques on the day to whichever wedding(s) you choose to attend.
Thank you.
