Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

In May this year Catherine sadly lost her 6 year fight against cancer.  Those of you who know her will know how incredibly strong she was, and of course how special she was to us, life will never be the same without her.

She spent her last few weeks in the St Catherine's Hospice in Preston.  The team here were amazing and we're so happy that she was looked after so well.

St Catherine's is an independent charity and it currently costs around £5m to run the hospice for a year, with less than 30 per cent coming via the NHS.

The Morecambe Bay Walk has been organised to raise vital funds to support the specialised care the hospice provides for local people affected by life-limiting illnesses.  It runs from Arnside to Kents Bank at low tide, is approximately 8 miles and takes approximately 4 hours to complete.  The crossing of the main channel – the River Kent estuary channel – can reach up to the bottom of an adult’s shorts in places (which could be fun for 8 year old Thomas!) - see more at: http://www.stcatherines.co.uk/fundraising/event/morecambe-bay-walk/#sthash.TqZ8eNOy.dpuf

Our target is £3300 which is how much it costs to run the St Catherine's Hospice Day Therapy Unit and community Clinical Nurse Specialist Team each day.

Please dig deep in support of this wonderful cause.

With huge thanks

Catherine's loving family

Walking across the Bay will be:

Catherine's husband Harry, her daughters Julie, Wendy & Emma, son-in-law Tim, grandchildren Katie & Thomas and friends Steve & Helen Helm
