Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
On 29 June 2012, staff from across Zolfo Cooper's five UK offices will be taking part in a massive 500 mile cycling challenge, all in aid of Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres.
Starting at our Glasgow office, our team will head south to Leeds, onto Manchester, then Birmingham, before finishing on 5 July at our London office.
Updates on our progress will be provided on our blog: www.zc500.com
This will be an incredibly tough challenge, from conquering the hills of the North to the busy streets of five of the UK biggest cities. However, the team are determined to complete this challenge, spurred on by the desire to raise as much money as possible for a worthy cause that has impacted on the lives of both colleagues and friends.
Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres are a network of drop-in centres which aim to help anyone who has been affected by cancer. They are not intended as a replacement for conventional cancer therapy, but as a caring environment that can provide support, information and practical advice.
Maggie’s philosophy is “don’t lose the joy of living in the fear of dying” and so through innovative community-based centres, Maggie’s provide support to people with cancer, their families and friends; giving them vital support to live with, through and beyond cancer. Through a drop-in service and a tailored programme of support Maggie’s provides information and advice, counselling, benefits advice, practical workshops and peer-to-peer support groups.
There are currently 10 purpose built Maggie’s Centres in the UK and 2 interim services covering Glasgow, Edinburgh, Fife, Dundee, the Highlands, London, Cheltenham, Lanarkshire, Nottingham, Oxford and Swansea. There are plans underway to build centres in Aberdeen and Newcastle and they are currently in talks with the NHS in Manchester and Leeds about building centres there.
Any donation will be hugely appreciated, and will certainly spur us along every one of the 500 miles.
You can also donate by text message, by texting ZCCC50 followed by the amount (£1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10) to 70070.
