Story
10 years ago I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease and was bed-bound for 6 months. A passing comment from my consultant genuinely turned my life around – he told me of his patient who was running a marathon and from that moment a little nugget was lodged in my brain. If he could do it with this illness, so could I. Everything came together last year whilst I was working on an event with Womankind and they mentioned they were looking for supporters to run the London Marathon. That was all it took, and a few weeks later here I am with a full-on training schedule and new “diva pink” trainers.
I'm proud to be running for Womankind as I strongly support their vision of a fair world where being a woman does not limit choices, opportunities or rights. Womankind work in partnership with women's rights organisations in Africa, Asia and Latin America and I will be helping to support projects which will improve women's access to healthcare and education and empower women towards greater economic and political participation.
My fundraising target is £2500 and this total could provide 5 women survivors of sexual violence in Ethiopia with vital medical supplies for a year and also train 2 law enforcement officers to defend refugee rights and survivors of rape and domestic violence in Tanzania.
I really appreciate any sponsorship you can give. Thanks so much!
