Mumsnetters harness the power of the crowd

Their goal

As part of Mumsnet’s Giving Week 2015, the charity wanted to raise £2,000 to continue to provide this vital service to women in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. They soon doubled their target to £4,000 when they reached their £2,000 target within the first few days.

Their solution

The charity set up a campaign page on JustGiving and was able to receive donations from around the world. Having a Campaigns Page meant that people could easily share it on social media and amongst their networks, helping to raise both awareness of Abortion Support Network and raise vital funds – fast.

Their success

In just one week, over £10,000 was raised from 232 donations, including the matched giving from Mumsnet – exceeding the charity’s £4,000 target by 270%. The money raised will ensure that women in need will be able to have an abortion safely.
